Looking for the best photo studios in Abu Dhabi for a fashion shoot? Abu Dhabi is a smaller studio market than Dubai, but it has two things fashion teams care about: a capital-city client base of modestwear, abaya and luxury labels, and twofour54, the government-backed media zone with purpose-built sound stages on Yas Island. Search "photo studio Abu Dhabi" and you mostly get passport, family and newborn studios, so we filtered for spaces you can actually hire for fashion and catalogue work. The short answer: Strap Studios in Al Danah for clear hourly pricing with lighting included, The Loft Studio on Al Reem Island for daylight and styled interiors, and SAM Studio for a cyclorama at the lowest listed hourly rate.

How to choose a fashion photo studio in Abu Dhabi

Filter out passport and family studios

Most Abu Dhabi "photo studio" listings are passport, visa, ID, family and newborn studios, many attached to typing or print shops. For fashion, search "studio rental" and check for a cyc or seamless backdrop, the floor size and which lights come with the rate.

Decide between downtown and Yas

The commercial studios on this list sit in the downtown core (Al Danah, Al Manhal) and on Al Reem Island, which keeps model and stylist travel short. Yas Island is a drive out of the city centre, so head to twofour54 when the production genuinely needs a stage. We did not find a verifiable fashion rental studio in Mussafah, Khalifa City or Saadiyat at the time of writing.

Sort out permits for location days

If the campaign moves outside the studio, filming in public spaces needs a permit. twofour54 handles location and filming permits, and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission offers a production rebate that commercials can apply for.

Plan around the heat, Ramadan and Eid

From roughly June to September, outdoor shoots are only realistic at dawn, which pushes most work indoors and keeps studios busier. During Ramadan, working hours shorten, so confirm studio and crew timings in advance. For modestwear and abaya labels, Ramadan and Eid are the biggest drops of the year, and the imagery has to be live before the season starts. That means the shoots land weeks earlier, when studios, models and stylists are already in demand. Lock dates for those collections well ahead, and line up a second studio as a fallback in case your first choice is booked.

Match the room to the brief

A 66 sq m studio with a 4.26 m cyc is plenty for e-commerce and close-up beauty, but tight for full-length walking shots or a crew of ten. Send the studio your shot list and crew size before you book, and ask for photos of the space with lights set up, not just the empty room.

Check what the hourly rate covers

Strap and Phoenix include lighting; The Loft's rate covers the studio and fitting room. Ask about VAT (5% in the UAE), overtime, and whether an assistant is included: Phoenix lists an assistant as an AED 200 add-on.

When you don't need a studio day

Studios still win for campaigns, talent-led editorial and video where you need real movement, real fabric and a creative team in the room.

But much of what Abu Dhabi brands book studio days for is repeatable: on-model PDP images for every SKU, the same abaya in six colourways, ghost mannequin shots and flat lays for marketplaces. For that work, many fashion teams now use an AI visual production platform like Caimera instead of booking a full day. You can create on-brand AI fashion models wearing your actual garments, turn flat lay to on-model catalog images, and produce ghost mannequin images from product photos.

A sensible split for most brands: book the studio for the hero campaign and lookbook, and handle colourway variants and catalogue refreshes without a full crew call.

FAQ

How much does it cost to rent a photo studio in Abu Dhabi?

Among the studios here that publish rates, hourly hire runs from AED 250 (SAM Studio, Phoenix) to AED 500 (The Loft Studio, including a fitting room). Day rates are AED 1,200 at Strap Studios and AED 1,600 at Phoenix for eight hours. Add 5% VAT where it is not included.

What is the best photo studio in Abu Dhabi for fashion?

For styled sets and daylight, The Loft Studio on Al Reem Island. For a straightforward catalogue day with lighting included, Strap Studios in Al Danah. For a cyc, SAM Studio or Phoenix. For a full campaign or fashion film, twofour54's stages on Yas Island.

Do Abu Dhabi studios include equipment and lighting?

Several do. Strap Studios includes lighting and accessories in its package price, Phoenix includes basic strobes or continuous light with a standard backdrop, and SAM Studio lists Godox and Neewer lighting with modifiers. Cameras and extra crew are usually extra.

Is there a studio with a cyclorama in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. SAM Studio has a 4.26 m × 4.26 m cyclorama wall, and Phoenix Photo Studio has a main cyclorama zone with 15+ backdrop colours. For a much larger stage, look at twofour54 on Yas Island.

How far ahead should I book?

As a rule of thumb, allow one to two weeks for a standard catalogue day, and more in the cooler months, when outdoor shoots come back and crews get busier. Book the studio after your model and photographer are confirmed.

What should I check before booking a studio rental in Abu Dhabi?

Confirm what a "day" means (eight, nine or ten hours) and what overtime costs, since that is where budgets slip. Ask whether the rate includes 5% VAT, lighting and grip, or whether kit is hired separately. Check the cyc size against your widest full-length shot, whether the windows face north for even daylight, and the load-in route for rails and cases. Finally, read the cancellation and rescheduling terms, and ask if a steamer, rails and a hair and makeup station are on site so your stylist is not packing them.
